Overview
MediLink connects patients with verified doctors for on-demand video visits and scheduled appointments across specialties, from cardiology to dermatology. It handles discovery, booking, secure video consultation, and follow-up in one HIPAA-conscious experience.
The challenge
Healthcare apps carry a double burden: they must be effortless for anxious, often non-technical users, and they must protect sensitive health data to a regulated standard. Video visits have to connect reliably the first time, and scheduling has to respect real clinical availability.
Our solution
We built MediLink in React Native with a HIPAA-conscious architecture, encrypted data in transit and at rest, access controls, and audit logging. Patients search by specialty or symptom, view verified doctor profiles with real availability, book in a couple of taps, and join a secure video consultation with in-call notes and file sharing. An appointments hub manages upcoming and past visits with summaries.

Hard problems we solved
Reliable one-tap video connection required careful Twilio room lifecycle handling and pre-call network checks. Building on a HIPAA-conscious footprint meant encryption, strict access controls, audit trails, and vendor BAAs threaded through the whole stack without slowing the patient experience.
