Overview

HOP is a ride-hailing app: request a ride, choose your tier, watch your driver arrive in real time, pay seamlessly, and rate the trip. We delivered the rider experience end to end, backed by a matching engine and live tracking.

The challenge

Ride-hailing is a real-time logistics problem wearing a simple UI. Riders expect an accurate map, honest ETAs and fares up front, fast driver matching, and live tracking that never lags. Getting the map and location experience buttery-smooth on every device is the make-or-break.

Our solution

We built HOP in Flutter with a live map home screen, saved places (home, work, airport), and destination search. Riders pick a tier (Go, Comfort, XL) with transparent upfront pricing and ETAs, a matching service pairs them with the nearest driver, and a real-time map tracks the car to pickup and along the route. Cashless payment and a post-trip rating with tips close the loop.

Hard problems we solved

Smooth, accurate live tracking required map interpolation, snapped-to-road paths, and throttled location updates so the car glides rather than jumps. The matching engine used geospatial indexing to pair riders and drivers in real time with fair, transparent fares computed before booking.

Results & impact

HOP delivered a rider experience on par with category leaders, accurate maps, honest upfront pricing, and live tracking that feels instant, ready to pair with a driver app and scale by city.
